Evenwood CE Primary SchoolWelcomeWelcome toEvenwood CE Primary SchoolEvenwood School is a Church of England Controlled School, situated in the South West of the County of Durham on the outskirts of Bishop Auckland. The school has a long history dating back to 1865. The current building was opened in 1974. Our school is sited on the edge of the village in a semi rural setting and serves the local community and beyond. The views from the school are of the hills and we are lucky to live next door to a working farm. As a Christian community we follow the recommended Durham RE syllabus combined with the teachings of the Anglican faith. Our commitment to our faith is embedded in all that we do. We are fortunate to have a spacious modern building with excellent resources and facilities for the primary age range. Our beautiful outside spaces include a football pitch, school gardens, trim trails and an outdoor classroom. We are a small rural school with an experienced team of teaching staff with a high adult to child ratio. Our small classes ensure that we can meet the needs of all children and support them to achieve their absolute best. We recognise the interest and talents of individuals and encourage and celebrate their achievements. The safety of our children is a high priority. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure all children are very well cared for and protected in safe and secure surroundings, both on and off school premises. We have security systems which safeguard all school members. Our Ofsted inspection in May 2010 confirms we are a 'good' school and surveys show that our children enjoy school life, in particular the variety of activities on offer both during and after school. We provide a wide and varied curriculum including many visits out of school to places of interest. We also welcome visitors into school from the local community and beyond. Our early years unit is led by an experienced team and offers education to children from the age of three years and includes a supervised lunch service. Parents can opt for a range of sessions to suit their family needs. We are very proud of our early years education and believe the provision is wide and varied and offers your child the best possible start to their school career. Our school is a very exciting and busy place to be. We welcome the support of the local community and encourage parents and carers to participate in their children’s learning.
